We shall reset Ghana and recover all loot – Samuel Okudzeto announces receipt of dossier on national service ghost names scandal

Samuel Okudzeto, leader of the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) team, has shared an important update with the public, revealing that they have received the full dossier on the National Service ghost names scandal.

In a post on his X page on December 20, Okudzeto expressed immense gratitude to The Fourth Estate and the Media Foundation for West Africa, crediting them for their exceptional patriotism in assisting the team.

“We are extremely grateful to The Fourth Estate and the Media Foundation for West Africa for the presentation and their exceptional patriotism.

“Together, we shall reset Ghana and recover all loot,” he wrote, emphasizing the team’s commitment to rooting out corruption.

This development comes at a time when the public has been increasingly concerned about ghost names on the National Service roster, with reports indicating that several names were fraudulently added to the list, leading to the siphoning of government funds.

The ORAL team, which was formed as part of efforts to fight corruption, has been instrumental in uncovering various scandals, and the National Service ghost names issue is just the latest in a long list of corrupt practices they aim to tackle.

President-elect John Dramani Mahama had previously clarified the role of the ORAL team, addressing the confusion surrounding its function.

“With regards to ORAL, I announced the preparatory committee and people are confused,” he remarked in a statement.

He explained that the team was not set up to conduct investigations but rather to serve as a focal point where all information related to corruption and wrongdoing could be gathered.

“We are receiving a lot of information on things that are going wrong, corruption scandals, and all that.

‘Some send me texts on my phones, some call me, others pass through other people,” Mahama said.

He emphasized that the ORAL team’s role is to collect and compile the evidence, which would then be passed on to the appropriate state institutions for investigation and action.

“The team is not going to be investigating people.

“It is going to gather evidence and pass it on to the institutions that are supposed to do that kind of work,” Mahama clarified.

He also stressed that the ORAL team operates without any budget or financial compensation, underscoring the team’s dedication to transparency and its volunteer-based structure.

“If people have information that they think is useful in the fight against corruption, pass it on to the team,” Mahama urged, inviting citizens to contribute to the cause.
