WATCH LIVE: Akufo-Addo delivers last State of the Nation Address

President Nana Akufo-Addo will deliver his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) to Parliament on Friday (3 January), marking the closing chapter of his administration’s term in office.

The address, mandated by Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution, serves as a critical moment for the president to outline the country’s achievements, challenges, and the overall state of affairs under his leadership.

This presentation, laden with expectations, sets the stage for reflection as the 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic approaches its dissolution.

On Monday (6 January), the 8th Parliament will officially bow out, paving the way for the inauguration of the 9th Parliament.

The first order of business for the incoming legislature, scheduled for the same day at 11:00 PM, will be the election of a Speaker and two Deputy Speakers—a process that could signal the tone of the new parliamentary session.
