Lead Counsel for the first defendant in the disputed Walewale New Patriotic Party(NPP) Parliamentary Primary suit, Samson Lardy Ayenini has described the ruling by the Tamale High Court as a miscarriage of justice.
He is of the view that the plaintiff, Lariba Zuweira, was rewarded for wrongdoing.
Addressing the media after the ruling, Samson could not fathom why the court would arrive at the ruling it gave after
“Once the plaintiff Lariba Zuweira was found to be the one who got the people impersonating the dead, sick people and who got the people impersonating the absentees, she must not benefit from her wrong. The law is that if you commit a wrong, you must not benefit,” he told press people.
“So our expectation was that the court would say ‘yes, we found this that it happened but the person who did that is the one who has come to court so she must suffer and not get a judgement in her favour’”.
The Tamale High Court presided over by Justice Richard Kogyapwah on Monday, September 2 ruled that the primaries should be rerun.
However, the full judgement is expected to be ready on September 12, 2024, several days after the rerun of the election.
