Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been seen in a viral video confronting Police Officers after protesters destroyed NPP paraphernalia during the Democracy Hub demonstration.

The protest, organized by the opposition aimed to express dissatisfaction with the NPP government over issues like economic hardship, corruption, and governance failures. However, tensions escalated when some protesters allegedly vandalized NPP property, prompting frustration among NPP members.

In the video, Mustapha, alongside angry NPP supporters, criticized the police for their perceived inaction, pointing out that no arrests had been made. “None of the protesters can even stand up to me and beat me,” Mustapha was heard saying, while also warning that his men would retaliate if the destruction continued.

Eventually, after police intervention and assurances, Mustapha instructed his supporters to “fall back” and retreat, defusing the situation temporarily.

The “Enough is Enough” demonstration serves as a bold statement from the NDC, addressing the ongoing economic and social challenges under the NPP’s leadership and calling for immediate action.

Beyond that, the protest is primarily centred around the party’s discontent with inconsistencies in the provisional voters register.

They have expressed significant apprehensions regarding the reliability of the register, contending that it may jeopardize the integrity of the forthcoming general elections scheduled for December 7.
