The intolerance creeping into Ghana’s politics worrying – Yaw Boafo Esq

Immediate past President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), Yaw Acheampong Boafo Esq has complained bitterly about the intolerance in Ghana’s politics currently.

According to him, people who express opposing opinions on issues are seen as enemies, and attacking dogs are released to pounce on them.

His comments come on the back of his calls for a thorough review of the Free SHS Policy and its implementation.

“Now what I have noticed it that our politics have become so intolerant that opposing opinions are seen as enemies. People called me and said things that were unprintable. But for the fact that they know my political affiliation, they would have tagged me as a member of the NDC. So if Ghana Bar Association cannot express its opinion on a policy then what do we do?

Is it not surprising that since the NPP introduced Free SHS their electoral fortunes get worse. So that should tell you that at times when you don’t let people talk, and you allow people to attack on social media,…” he explained on the BKB show with Bright Kankam Boadu.

He indicated that his stance on Free SHS will not change regardless of the attacks and urged government to focus on making the basic school system better indicating that “there is no country that spends more on secondary education than basic education in the world than Ghana”.
