The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has rescheduled the special voting exercise in the Eastern and Western Regions after the commission discovered some anomalies with the ballot papers printed in those regions.
At an emergency meeting with the Inter-party Advisory Committee (IPAC) today, Sunday, 1 December 2024, the Commissioner’s chairperson, Mrs Jean Mensa, disclosed that the commission had discovered that a defaced ballot paper from one of several printing houses had been taken from the printing press and was in possession of an authorised person.
To this end, the commission, in its quest to ensure the integrity of the entire voting process, has decided to recall all the ballot papers printed by this particular printing house and to authorize other printing houses to print a new set for the Eastern and Western Regions.

Meanwhile, the National Election Security Taskforce has in a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service, inform all personnel of the security agencies that the special voting, slated for tomorrow, 2nd December 2024, is going to take place as scheduled across the country with the exception of Eastern and Western Regions.
“The Electoral Commission, in collaboration with the political parties, has decided to postpone the special voting only for Eastern and Western Regions which will be held at a later date during the week.
“Those who are supposed to vote in the two affected regions will be given the opportunity to cast their votes when a new date is announced by the Electoral Commission,” the statement read.
“All personnel of all the security agencies are, therefore, directed to come out in their numbers tomorrow, 2nd December 2024, to cast their votes,” the statement of the National Election Security Taskforce further read.
