SONA: Akufo-Addo expresses deep sympathy for Kantamanto fire victims

During his final State of the Nation Address (SONA), President Nana Akufo-Addo took a moment to express his heartfelt condolences to the victims of the devastating fire that gutted the famous Kantamanto market in Accra.

The fire, which broke out in the early hours of Thursday, left many traders and market vendors in shock, as it destroyed both property and livelihoods in one of the busiest commercial hubs in the country.

“First and foremost, my heart goes out to the victims of the tragic fire that occurred at Kantamanto Market,” Akufo-Addo said, his voice heavy with emotion. “

This is a disaster that has deeply affected not only the traders but the entire nation. My government will take swift and decisive action to ensure those affected receive the support they need.”

In his remarks, Akufo-Addo highlighted the magnitude of the damage. The fire, which raged through the market, destroyed valuable goods, property, and infrastructure that have been the foundation of many families’ livelihoods.

The president described the loss as “heartbreaking” and emphasized that no stone would be left unturned in offering support to the victims.

As the outgoing president, Akufo-Addo reflected on his tenure with a mixture of pride and sadness.

“It is not easy to see such devastation in the heart of our capital, but we must rise together as a nation to rebuild what has been lost,” he continued.
