Suspected armed robbers have attacked a Cocoa Depot at Fomena in the Ashanti Region and bolted with over GHC1 million, MyNewsGh.com reports.
The bandits also took away mobile phones and shot into the vehicle of the depot manager before fleeing from the scene of crime.
According to MyNewsGh.com’s Ashanti Regional correspondent, the robbery took place on Thursday evening at about 6:20PM
It is gathered that the masked robbers numbering four and armed with Ak47 assault rifles stormed Agro Ecom Company Limited Cocoa Depot at Adansi Ansah. They reportedly shot at GMC Terrain 2 vehicle with registration number GS 9576-22 belonging to the District Officer.
Police were immediately notified about the ongoing robbery but before they arrived at the scene, the robbers escaped into a nearby bush with their booty with no trace of their whereabouts.
A combined team of police personnel from New Edubiasi and Adansi Fomena have launched a hunt for the suspects believed to be hiding in neighbouring communities.
