Rabotec Group signs MoU with UMaT for development of mining concession

The  Rabotec Group led by the chief executive officer, Alhaji Ali Ibrahim and general manager, Ayesha Mahama yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT).

The collaboration aims to develop a mining concession dedicated to the teaching and training of UMaT students.

Speaking at the ceremony, Alhaji Ali Ibrahim, the CEO of Rabotec Group said the partnership with UMaT is a cornerstone of the company’s strategic plan for skills and business development.

He emphasised the company’s intention to collaborate on the mining project from its developmental stages through to life of mine (LOM), with the aspiration to establish it as the largest research mine in Africa.

Alhaji Ibrahim assured the University of the availability of funding and pledged unwavering commitment to the project.

The vice chancellor, Professor Richard Amankwah in his welcome note at the ceremony highlighted that the UMaT Mining Concession, located in the Wassa East District has undergone initial exploration with support from the Minerals Commision of Ghana and is currently in the mine planning stage.

He expressed hope that following the MoU signing Rabotec and UMaT would swiftly mobilize equipment and other necessary resources to advance the project.

As part of the ceremony, Rabotec Group also presented the University with a brand new Nissan Navara pickup truck worth US$40,000 to support its operations.
