NPP’s claims of Togolese voters misleading and unfair -Nana Yaa Jantuah

Ms Nana Yaa Jantuah, the former Director of Public Relations and External Affairs at the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), has slammed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Jean Mensa regarding their stance on the voters’ register.

In a recent appearance on the Anopa Nkomo show on Kingdom FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, she expressed her concerns about the inconsistency in the NPP’s approach to electoral integrity.

Reflecting on past events, Nana Yaa recalled, “I remember when Nana Akufo-Addo was in opposition. He travelled abroad to tell Ghanaians in the diaspora that the voters’ register was flawed and needed auditing.”

She expressed her disbelief that the NPP, now in power, is cooperating with the Electoral Commission (EC) led by Jean Mensa to deny the National Democratic Congress (NDC) the same opportunity to address their concerns about the register.

Her frustration was palpable as she added, “It’s astonishing to see how the narrative has changed. The NPP’s current stance contradicts everything they stood for when they were in opposition.”

Furthermore, Nana Yaa took aim at the NPP’s persistent claims that Togolese individuals participate in significant numbers during elections in the Volta Region to bolster the NDC.

She pointed out that the demographics in areas like Denu include individuals with family ties to Togolese nationals, which does not necessarily mean they are Togolese themselves. “To classify them as such is not only misleading but also diminishes the rich tapestry of our society,” she stated.
