NPP MP recounts how he was sacked from Akufo-Addo’s appointee office

In Ghanaian politics, respect for hierarchy and protocol often dictates interactions between government officials and party members.

But what happens when a sitting Member of Parliament (MP) is dismissed from an office due to a lack of an appointment?

That’s precisely the situation that left Vincent Ekow Assafuah, the MP for Old Tafo, disappointed and questioning the attitudes within his own party.

During a discussion on Hello FM, Assafuah shared his frustration over an incident where an unnamed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) turned him away for not scheduling a meeting in advance.

The event, which took place in the presence of fellow New Patriotic Party (NPP) member Collins Nuntwiri Nuamah, struck a chord with the MP, who saw it as a reflection of a deeper issue within their party.

“Do I really need an appointment to see the CEO?” he asked, expressing his disbelief at the situation.

Beyond the personal inconvenience, Assafuah believes this incident highlights a broader challenge facing the NPP.

According to him, many party members fail to understand the fundamental principles of unity and accessibility, which he claims contributed to growing dissatisfaction within the party.

“Many members of our party do not grasp the fundamental principles,” he remarked, pointing to internal divisions and mismanagement as factors behind the party’s struggles.
