NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia pledges international standard football pitches for Ghana's major stadia
Vice President and NPP's 2024 Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has announced plans to upgrade Ghana's major football pitches to meet international standards if elected President.Speaking at the NPP's 2024 manifesto launch in Takoradi's GSTS on Sunday, Bawumia outlined his vision for sports infrastructure.Bawumia also promised an effective maintenance model for sports facilities and continued construction of astroturfs in every constituency to foster talent development, including juvenile football."We will also upgrade the surfaces of our football pitches to meet the highest international standard. And so we will be seeing an upgrading of the stadia in Accra, Kumasi, Cape Coast, Tamale and Essipong to make sure they meet the highest international standard," he said."My government will also implement an effective maintenance model for our sports facilities we will continue the construction of astroturfs for every constituency to boost the development of our talent including juvenile football."We have increased astroturfs from the three that we inherited to over 150 in 2024,"
