The former MCE for East Mamprusi Municipality and North East Regional Coordinating Director of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), Danladi Nasiru, has said the government will provide GHC2.2 million to the North East Region as fuel to DRIP equipment for the construction of critical roads in various districts.
The North East Region is expected 61 equipment to be distributed among the two municipal assemblies and four district assemblies.
The region has so far received 34 of these equipment.
“My role in this is to ensure that the equipment that has been brought to this region is put to good use and the purpose by which they are brought here,” Danladi said, adding that “my role is to prevent abuse.”
According to him, 140 barrels of fuel will be provided and distributed to all six districts, in addition to the GHC 2.2 million, which will be disbursed soon.
In an interview with the media after the commissioning ceremony, Danladi stated that “I just received a message from the national coordinating director that there will be fuel barrels in this region. That will be 140 of them to be distributed to the whole six assemblies.”
“So the fuel will be coming from the central government but there will be another, I’m told GHC1.2 million for the municipal assemblies and GHC1 million for assemblies to augment the fuel that will be coming from the central government,” he added.
