The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, alongside members of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 13th African Games, visited President Nana Akufo-Addo at Jubilee House on Wednesday (24 July).
The delegation expressed their gratitude to the President for his leadership during the successful Games held in Accra from 4–23 March 2024.
They presented him with a medal and an African Games-branded t-shirt as tokens of appreciation.
Hosting the continental event for the first time, Ghana saw its best performance in history, with Team Ghana securing an impressive 69 medals and finishing sixth on the overall medal table.
President Akufo-Addo described the Games as one of the highlights of his presidency, noting the widespread commendations he has received.
“My fellow peers congratulate me wherever I go on the success of the African Games,” said President Akufo-Addo. “The whole continent has felt enhanced and elevated by it. Moussa Faki Mahamat [President of the AU Commission] was talking about the Games.”
