Maintain high standards – Akufo-Addo urges 14 charter-receiving universities

President Akufo-Addo has charged fourteen university colleges, which have all become full-fledged universities after receiving their presidential charters, to maintain the high standards that have led to their successes and achievements.

Addressing officials and staff of the charter receiving institutions at the banquet hall of the Jubilee House after presenting them with their charter on Thursday, 19 December 2024, President Akufo-Addo said the universities ought to look beyond their present achievements and endeavor to attain higher heights.

“These institutions have shown exceptional resilience and ingenuity in overcoming challenges and embracing opportunities for growth. They represent the diversity of talent and ambition that exist within Ghana’s educational sector.

“While you celebrate this achievement, we must remain mindful of the challenges ahead. The rapid evolution of technology, the increasing demand for specialized skills, and the need for sustainable funding models are issues that require our collective attention,” President Akufo-Addo remarked.

“As these institutions take on their new responsibilities, we must support them in their journey towards excellence. To the leadership of these institutions, I urge you to embrace this new chapter with a renewed sense of purpose, uphold the highest standards of academic integrity, foster an environment of inclusivity and diversity, and prioritize the holistic development of your students’ Akufo-Addo further remarked.
