Kaakyire Kwame Appiah: I have produced about 36 artists in Ghana

Legendary highlife Ghanaian musician Kaakyire Kwame Appiah has said that he has produced about 36 artists in Ghana over the years.

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (14 August) the highlife virtuoso said, “I’ve produced 36 musicians with 76 albums.”

“Kwame Mickey was taking care of my company; Kaakyire Music Productions. But right now, CDs and cassettes are no more, so everything has changed.

He added that Osuani Afrifa, Hallelujah Voices, Sibo Brothers, and Paa Solo are some of the artists he has worked with.

“I’ve produced Ex Doe and a lot of people.”

He added, “I think we have about five or seven albums with Paa Solo. Somebody like Reverend Michael Osei Bonsu, Abena Amponsah, Uncle Ato and many more.”

He also expressed his love for gospel music.

“I love gospel music; that is me, but what I know is that the gospel people followed King David, and we, the highlife people, we are also following his son, Solomon, so I have to blend all of them. I love gospel music.
