It’s ‘haram’ to speak on the economy – Sammy Gyamfi goes hard on Bawumia, NPP

Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has described as sacrilege or haram any move by the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) to speak on the economy.

He asserted that it will be a “haram” for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in particular to utter any word about the economy taking into account how things have been managed in the last couple of years.

During a panel interview on Metro TV Ghana monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he described Dr Bawumia as an incompetent economist who has taken the country’s economy into abyss.

Sammy Gyamfi has asserted that the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the party itself has  no  moral right to speak about the economy.

“You have displayed yourself as incompetent and clueless about economic management. You shouldn’t talk about the economy. It’s a haram to talk about the economy. Do you know what Bawumia has done to businessmen? In John Mahama’s era, if a businessman needs $10,000 he only needs GHc42,000 but now the same $10,000 is now you need GHc170,000” Sammy Gyamfi lamented bitterly.

He pined that Dr Bawumia has caused a lot of people to lose their jobs and also caused people to get high blood pressure in the process,  lamenting that Ghana has been locked out of the capital market hence Ghanaians cannot go and borrow.

“Even Togo can borrow from the debt Market and you are not ashamed of yourself. And you are here saying proudly saying I’m happy with the foreign debt restructuring. You borrowed Eurobond and celebrated with kenkey party at the Ministry of Finance and wasted borrowed funds on private funds”, Sammy Gyami fumed.

He further slammed Dr Bawumia for celebrating that he has managed the economy well after a lot of pensioners and other Ghanaians have suffered haircuts, warning him  never to compare himself to former president, John Mahama.
