What did Mahama inherit and what did he deliver – Ernest Adade compares and contrasts

Mr. Ernest Adade, a communications team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has made comparison of the economies between the current administration and the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by former President John Dramani Mahama.

During a panel discussion on Metro TV, Ernest Adade questioned what John Mahama inherited from the NPP when they were leaving office and what he also delivered prior to his exit from government.

According to him, when the NPP  government was handing over to the NDC in 2009 under the Late Atta Mills and his Vice President, John Mahama, the country had recorded 9.00% growth but when he(Mahama) was also handing over to the current President in 2017, the economic growth had dropped from 9.00% to 3.4%.

“From 2017 to 2019, the economy growth rose but in 2020 and Covid hit us. The whole world went into a recession even South Africa went on recession. They hit -2.4%. Germany and other high countries we thought had a stable economy also fell in their economic growth”, he disclosed.

According to Ernest Adade, although Ghana’s economic growth dropped to 0.5, it bounced back to 5% after the economic growth, arguing that  the economic growth of Nana Addo and John Mahama has a wide differences hence believes the NDC won’t win the elections.

He further made references to the regime of John Mahama where he refused to pay allowances of teachers and nurses and the energy crises that happened under the regime of the NDC, describing it as a worst load shedding ever.
