Youth activist Oliver Barker Vormawor has told the Appointment Committee that he is happy to pull down the post that necessitated his invitation before the committee.
He says he kept the post there because it was misinterpreted and thought it would be imperative if invited to explain.
Appearing before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, Oliver Barker Vormawor said “I’m saying here clearly that my post was not intended to disparage members of the committee, and I have not intended to say that members of this committee have received or demanded bribe from various individuals. At no point was my statement intended to communicate same and for these reasons I apologise”.
Adding that “I am happy to pull it down as the conversation has indicated and clarity has been brought to it,” he added.
Oliver Barker-Vormawor was summoned to Parliament by the Appointments Committee after their attention was drawn to a post shared by Barker-Vormawor that suggested that the committee had demanded monies from appointees to approve them.
“So all the monies the ministerial appointees are being asked to pay to the Appointments Committee just to get approved, are those ones not affected by ORAL? Strange Republic,” his post read.
