Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Bernard Ahiafor, has addressed allegations made by Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, regarding the handling of the committee’s vetting reports.
In a TV3 interview, Afenyo-Markin claimed that he had not received the draft report on the vetting process, which led to an exchange between him and Ahiafor.
However, Ahiafor quickly dismissed these allegations, asserting that there was no truth to the Minority Leader’s claims.
“There is nothing that the clerk has done that has not been authorized.
“Your allegation that you are not seeing the draft report is unfounded because you and I will be sitting there then I will hand over your copy to you personally or the clerk will place it before you personally…he cannot pretend not to have a copy,” Ahiafor stated confidently.
He further emphasized that the accusations were unnecessary and called for an apology to be made to the Clerk of the Committee, who has been serving the parliamentary process diligently.
“It’s uncalled for. He must render an apology to the clerk of the committee. The Clerk of the Committee deserves to be respected; she doesn’t deserve those words to be used against her because we instruct her,” he added.
