A member of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) national youth working committee, Engineer Ebenezer Aidoo, has shared his thoughts on the appointment of Honorable Amma Kibua as the new Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, expressing confidence in her ability to address Ghana’s illegal mining (galamsey) problem.

During his interview on Joy News, monitored by MyNewsGh, Aidoo praised Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah for his excellent performance during her vetting in Parliament.

“We all were at the Parliament House for his vetting, and we all saw how excellently he performed. There is no doubt that he’s the man cut out for the job,” Aidoo said, emphasizing his optimism for Kofi Buah’s future contributions.

He highlighted the minister’s commitment to ending illegal mining in Ghana and urged the public to support her initiatives.

Aidoo emphasized the importance of a unified approach to tackling the issue, stating, “Our lands are getting devastated, and we should all come together to support and make sure that areas that galamsey have taken over are put in shape for the next generation.”

The minister’s stance on enforcing the law also stood out during her vetting when he was asked whether any powerful individuals were involved in illegal mining.

He responded firmly, saying, “Nobody’s above the law.” Aidoo echoed this sentiment, calling for a collective effort to address the destruction caused by galamsey and hold all perpetrators accountable.
