Political scientist Ransford Gyampo has expressed concerns about the expenditure on political marketing tools for the 2024 elections.
He argues that, based on his checks, the main opposition political party competes boot for boot with the governing political party.
Gyampo’s worry is that the people of Ghana will be forced to bear the cost of the marketing tools when the elections are over and the winner is declared.
The political scientist who made this known in a post shared via social media said “The main opposition party and the ruling party are marching themselves boot for boot in respect of how much they are spending on rallies, bill-boards, radio and tv adverts. We should be worried bcos we would bear the cost directly or indirectly!”
Ghana goes to the polls on December 7, 2024.
The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) hopes to break the eight-year cycle of political parties in Ghana’s political history.
However, the opposition NDC believes that the governing NPP has junketed Ghana’s economy and wants the people of Ghana to restore them to power.
