‘Greed will divide us’ – Kofi Boakye warns NDC

Retired Commissioner of Police (COP) Nathan Kofi Boakye, a key member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) security team, has called on party supporters to resist the divisive effects of greed and embrace unity.

Speaking during the Ashanti Regional Zone Two campaign team’s victory celebration in Kumasi over the weekend, COP (retired) Boakye emphasized the need for solidarity as the incoming NDC government prepares to take office.

“If we care for one another, we will enter the 2028 elections with stronger strategies and renewed energy. We must avoid being divided by greed,” he remarked.

Acknowledging that not every party member would secure an appointment in the new administration, he urged appointees to prioritize the collective good and avoid using their positions to intimidate others.

“Yes, we have won the election to form the next government after January 7, 2025. However, not everyone here will receive an appointment. Those who do must not use their positions to intimidate others. You must demonstrate leadership and care for your fellow party members,” he cautioned.

COP Boakye also highlighted the importance of maintaining the momentum that led to the NDC’s victory, encouraging supporters to channel their energy into supporting the elected president and appointees to deliver impactful governance.

“At the moment, we walk with our heads held high because we have defeated the NPP in the 2024 election – a victory we are all sharing due to our hard work. Let’s use the same energy to support our elected president and appointees in bringing about positive change, which will ensure even greater rewards from Ghanaians in the 2028 elections,” he stated.

He commended the efforts of party members throughout the campaign season, saying, “I would like to take this opportunity to commend you all for your efforts.”

The event brought together known NDC stalwarts, communicators, MPs, old appointees and party sympathizers.
