GPL: Hearts of Lions shock Asante Kotoko,Dreams FC hold leaders Gold Stars to a stalemate

Asante Kotoko SC suffered their first defeat at home in the Ghana Premier League after losing 1-0 against Heart of Lions on Sunday.

Kwadwo Obeng Junior’s strike in the 28th minute separated the two teams at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.

Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum blamed the defeat on fatigue

The Porcupine Warriors have slipped to third in the table after being overtaken in second position by Nations FC.

Elsewhere,Gold Stars FC dropped points at home after drawing 0-0 against Dreams FC the Duns Park in Bibiani on Sunday.

The two teams failed to score as they shared the spoils in an entertaining draw. Gold Stars have opened a three-point lead with 19 points while Dreams remain in the bottom three.

Basake Holy Stars recorded an impressive 2-2 draw at Berekum Chelsea.

Emmanuel Sarpong put the hosts in the lead in the 45th minute before Stephen Awuah Baffour pulled parity for visitors.

Daouda Ben Sedibe made it 2-1 for Holy Stars before Stephen Amankona grabbed the equaliser on the stroke of full time.

Nsoatreman FC had to dig deep to draw 2-2 against Bechem United at home on Sunday.

Mohammed Abdul Rahman put the hosts in front with a superb finish as early as the 9th minute before Emmanuel Abban got the equaliser in the 51st minute.

Emmanuel Ankrah scored an own goal to give United the lead before Collins Kofi Kudjoe put Nsoatreman back in the 78th minute.

Vision FC dropped points at home again after drawing 0-0 against Aduana FC on Sunday.

The two teams settled for a point each after the pulsating draw at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex.

Nations FC continued their fine form with a vital 1-0 win at Karela United FC to go second in the League table.

Red-hot Faisal Charwetey’s 75th minute strike separated the two teams at the Tamale Sports Stadium.

Nations have jumped to second in the table with 16 points, three behind leaders Gold Stars FC.

Earlier on Friday,Hearts of Oak produced a sensational attacking display to beat dominant Medeama SC 2-0 at the TnA Stadium in an electrifying match.

FC Samartex 1996 delivered a last gasp equaliser to draw 1-1 at Accra Lions FC in a a highly entertaining  match.
