Gov’t rushing to sign a $800 million Gas Processing contract – Mahama discloses

Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has disclosed attempts by the Government of Ghana to sign an $800 million Gas Processing contract.

To him, this is not the time for such a contract to be signed considering the fact that the current government has three months to leave office.

The former President is of the view that even if they will sign, they will have to take the agreement to Parliament for approval.

He has hinted that the contract may lead to a judgement debt in the future.

John Dramani Mahama will deal with persons behind the deal if the country runs at a loss as a result of the contract if he becomes president.

I have cautioned President Nana Akufo-Addo regarding the planned $800 million gas processing contract. This contract must first be presented to parliament, and there is no need for it now.

At this late stage of your government, you should not be busy signing contracts that will bind this nation for many years. Let me warn all involved in this contract that they will be held responsible if the state suffers a financial loss.

I have promised the people of Ghana not just jobs and prosperity but also accountability. You can be assured that under the Mahama presidency, acts that are not in the interest of the good people of this country will not be allowed to proceed.
