Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, has come to the defence of President Nana Akufo-Addo, describing him as one of Ghana’s finest leaders in history.
Speaking during an interview on Asempa FM, Blay firmly dismissed claims that Akufo-Addo’s tenure has plunged Ghanaians into unprecedented hardship.
“I find it disheartening when people call Nana Akufo-Addo the worst president. It’s unfair, and I completely disagree. Yes, he’s made some mistakes—as any leader would—but that doesn’t erase the immense contributions he’s made to Ghana,” Blay stated passionately.
While acknowledging the economic challenges the country has faced, he argued that history will be kind to the president for key policies and interventions implemented under his leadership.
According to Blay, achievements such as the Free Senior High School program and significant infrastructure projects are testaments to Akufo-Addo’s dedication to national development.
“Let’s be honest with ourselves. No government has ever been perfect. But the strides this administration has made, especially in education and infrastructure, are remarkable. Nana Akufo-Addo deserves recognition for that,” Blay added.
Blay also urged Ghanaians to adopt a balanced view of leadership, emphasizing the need to focus on constructive criticism rather than blanket condemnation.
