FIFA launches financial governance workshop for member associations in Accra
FIFA has kicked off a three-day financial governance workshop for its member associations, aiming to strengthen financial management, accountability, and transparency in football organizations.The event, which began on Wednesday, January 29, is being held at the Accra Marriott Hotel in Ghana.The workshop focuses on critical aspects of financial governance, including conflict of interest prevention, provider selection measures, and the efficient use of resources.Christoph Suppiger, Head of the Financial Governance Programme at FIFA, highlighted the significance of the initiative, stating:"At the end of the training, the member associations should be entitled to learn a lot about different topics such as how to prevent conflict of interest, measures to put in place in order to select different providers..."He also emphasized the availability of a financial governance guide that provides comprehensive materials for member associations to implement in their respective organizations.This workshop marks the first time such an initiative has been hosted in Ghana, a decision that the General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo, sees as a recognition of the GFAâs strong financial management."We are happy about the opportunity to host the FIFA Financial Governance workshop in Accra," Addo said."That...
