Chief Executive Officer for the Environmental Protection Authority, Prof. Nana Ama Brown Klutse has assured the people of Ghana of her commitment to fight mining in water bodies in the country.
She made this known when she visited some sites in the Ashanti Region where illegal mining has destroyed several water bodies.
The Chief Executive of the Environmental Protection Authority indicated that with the extent of damage, there will be strict enforcement of the laws to ensure that the natural resources of Ghana is protected.
“Visited the Ashanti Region and witnessed the severe destruction of our water bodies caused by illegal mining. The pollution at Pasoro near River Offin is deeply concerning, threatening both the environment and communities that rely on these waters.
We remain committed as an authority to act to reclaim and restore these vital resources. The EPA will ensure stricter enforcement, intensify monitoring, and holding all violators accountable.
Protecting our water sources is not optional; it is essential for our survival,” she said.
