Electricity challenges behind us, lights are on across the country says Herbert Krapa

Minister for Energy Herbert Krapa has stated emphatically that the recent electricity supply challenges that the country experienced have been resolved and that the lights are now on across the country.

Over the last two weeks, several parts of the country have experienced intermittent lights off. The shortfall in power supply was largely attributed to the shutting down of the Asogli power plant.

According to the energy minister, the Asogli power plant has come back on stream and is operating at full capacity to ensure a constant power supply.

Mr Herbert Krapa disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Asaase News on recent developments in the energy sector. He indicated that going forward, there should be no reason for anyone or any part of the country to experience light out.

“The recent shortfall in power supply which led to the lights going off in some parts of the country occassionally has been resolved. i can assure all Ghanaians that they will not be experiencing lights out going forward,” Herbert Krapa stated

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a related development, has reassured Ghanaians that the recent power outages across the country are over, attributing the challenges to technical and capacity issues rather than financial constraints.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Hello FM on Tuesday (26 November), the President acknowledged the disruptions in power supply over the past fortnight but emphasized that the government, together with key stakeholders in the energy sector, has resolved the problems.

“We’ve had challenges, especially in the last couple of weeks, and the Ghana Gas supply tripped. We’ve had capacity challenges during this period, which resulted in the power outages. This is not financial,” President Akufo-Addo clarified.

He explained that load management issues were due to capacity constraints, adding that key facilities like the Asogli power plant, which had been out of the system, are now back online.

“Asogli, which was out of the system, is now back. But today, we can assure the country that there would be uninterrupted supply. There would be full load, and management is now completely secure and stable,” the President remarked.
