Election 2024: We’re more united than ever – Party Chairman confident of NPP win

Fiifi Mensah, the Bantama Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has boldly declared that the NPP is set to secure a decisive victory in Ghana’s upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections on December 7.

Speaking in an interview on Hello FM, a popular Kumasi-based station monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Mensah emphasized that internal unity has fortified the party, creating an unprecedented sense of momentum going into the polls.

“Unlike the previous election, where we had to deal with frustration and tension over the removal of certain sitting MPs, we’ve now moved beyond those conflicts,” Mensah explained. He pointed out that the party has focused on resolving these past issues to build a more cohesive team. “This time, we’re all on the same page. Even the candidates who didn’t win our internal elections have come together in full support of our chosen representatives,” he said, crediting this unity as a key factor in bolstering the party’s strength.

Mensah expressed confidence that this renewed solidarity will directly contribute to their success, especially in parliamentary races. “The NPP is better positioned now to win a majority of seats in Parliament,” he stated with conviction. According to him, the party has strategically resolved the issues that led to the previously divisive “skirt and blouse” voting pattern—a term referring to split-ticket voting, where voters choose candidates from different parties for president and parliament.

“Last time, the skirt and blouse pattern hurt us. But I can confidently say we’ve addressed this,” he asserted. According to Mensah, party members and supporters are more unified in their choices this time around, ensuring that their votes align with the party’s overall objectives. “We’ve laid the groundwork to make sure that this doesn’t repeat itself. We’re approaching this election with one voice, one purpose.”
