The Board of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is currently in an emergency meeting following the unexpected resignation of its Managing Director, Samuel Dubik Mahama.
According to reports available to MyNewsGh, the discussions are primarily centered on Mahama’s resignation and the wider implications for the company, especially amidst ongoing power outages affecting parts of the country.
Mahama, who assumed office on May 16, 2022, following his appointment by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, had only been in the role for two years.
His abrupt departure has raised questions, as neither ECG nor government officials have disclosed the reasons behind his decision to step down.
Prior to his role as Managing Director, Mahama served as a non-executive director at ECG and boasts an extensive background in both the private and public sectors.
His past positions include non-executive director at GIHOC Distilleries, country representative for Gulfsouth Forest Products, and partner at Dubik & Associates and Wilkins Engineering.
The ongoing meeting is expected to address not only the leadership changes but also the recent power supply issues, which have caused widespread frustration across several regions in Ghana.
