Coventry City hijacks Brandon Thomas-Asante's potential move to Hull City

Coventry City are set to complete the signing of Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante from West Bromwich Albion, Footballghana.com can report.

The Black Stars new boy is currently undergoing a medical at Coventry after snubbing a move to Hull City.

He is expected to sign for Coventry City after his mandatory medical on Wednesday morning.

Asante came close to joining Hull City this summer but Coventry have hijacked the move and are set to secure his services.

The Ghanaian forward has been a standout for West Brom since joining the club in 2022. Over the past two seasons, he has been the club’s top scoerer.

He impressed in the Championship last season, netting 11 goals and providing two assists for the Baggies.

The striker is believed to have been convinced to join Coventry ahead of Hull following his relationship with former Black Stars assistant coach George Boateng, who is deputy manager at the Championship club.

The forward made his debut for Ghana last month against the Central African Republic during the 2026 World Cup qualifier.

He came on as a second half substitute as the Black Stars cruised to victory over Central Africa Republic in June.

Coventry City, who finished ninth in the Championship last season and reached the FA Cup semi-finals, will hope Thomas-Asante can boost their Premier League promotion aspirations for the upcoming season.
