Check out African countries that have regulatory issues with Elon Musk’s Starlink

Elon Musks’ Starlink is gradually making inroads in Africa as an alternative internet service provider in the wake of the recent internet blackout that hits parts of Africa.

Starlink is a satellite internet constellation operated by American aerospace company SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk.  SpaceX started launching Starlink satellites in 2019.

Starlink claims it can bring superfast broadband to ‘almost anywhere on Earth’. It is currently the largest satellite internet provider around the world and has already launched in 14 African countries with plans to roll out in 13 more countries in Africa.

It has however faced regulatory issues in some African countries leading to termination of its services some African countries.

The company has been blocked from approval in countries such as Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, DR Congo, South Africa, Senegal, Mali and Zimbabwe.

But some bans have been reversed — particularly after the company got in touch with top government officials.
