Breaking: Anas ordered to testify without a mask in his case against Kwesi Nyantakyi

An Appeals Court in Accra has ordered investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas to take off his mask in order to testify in the case involving him and the former Ghana Football Association President.

The former Ghana Football Association president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, is in court with Anas Aremeyaw Anas over a documentary that cut short his football administration journey.

Delivering the unanimous ruling, Justices Anthony Oppong, Ackaah Boafo, and Aboagye Tandoh who presided over the case held that Anas could not testify while concealing his face.

The Appeals Court criticized the High Court’s decision to reconsider the state’s request for Anas to testify in disguise, indicating that a Supreme Court ruling to the effect and so another application shouldn’t have been entertained.

“The doctrine of stare decisis binds lower courts to the decisions of higher courts, and as such, the High Court erred in revisiting an issue already settled by the Supreme Court,” the ruling stated.
