Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, popularly known as Roman Fada, has opened up about the challenges he faced in his quest to contest Ghana’s presidential elections under the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) ticket.
Speaking candidly on Oyerepa FM, he alleged that deliberate schemes orchestrated by certain individuals led to his disqualification, accusing them of working to derail his ambitions for their own political gains.
Roman Fada, who was the running mate of GFP’s founder and leader, Akua Donkor, took on the party’s mantle after her sudden passing just days before the elections.
His nomination, however, was invalidated by the Electoral Commission (EC) due to inconsistencies in his application forms. According to the EC, these discrepancies rendered his presidential bid ineligible.
In his interview, Roman Fada claimed that some unidentified political operatives pressured him to withdraw his candidacy and support their candidate instead.
“There are people who wanted me to abandon this cause,” he stated. “But I stood firm because Akua Donkor believed in this party, and I must continue her legacy.”
Despite his disqualification, Roman Fada remains unwavering in his support for Akua Donkor and the GFP.
He declared that he intends to cast his vote for the late leader, whose name remains on the ballot.
However, the EC has made it clear that votes for Akua Donkor will not be valid or counted. Roman Fada brushed this aside, saying, “I will vote for her because her vision for Ghana is unmatched. We owe it to her memory to keep her dreams alive.”
