Boti Falls, paragliding, and more: Rita Awatey shares vision for tourism growth in Eastern Region

The Eastern Regional Minister-nominee, Rita Awatey, has outlined an ambitious agenda to transform the region into a premier tourism hub by leveraging its diverse attractions and cultural heritage.

During her vetting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament on January 23, 2025, she emphasized the untapped potential of the region and her determination to attract investors to drive its tourism sector forward.

“The region has numerous tourism potentials. Moving from the Akuapem area, coming down to Aburi, we have very beautiful hotels.

“In Asuogyaman, we have very beautiful resources,” Awatey stated confidently, underscoring the region’s unique offerings.

She highlighted renowned tourist sites like the Boti Falls and paragliding activities in Kwahu, which already draw visitors but require further development to reach their full potential.

“With the help of my stakeholders, we are going to do more feasibility studies into other areas, and we are going to bring investors to move the region forward from where we are now,” she added.

The Eastern Region is rich in natural and cultural treasures, making it one of Ghana’s most promising tourism destinations.
