Ayisi: Decentralising operations of Minerals Commission is one of our biggest achievements

The chief executive officer of the Minerals Commission, Martin Ayisi has said the decentralisation of the Commission’s operations across the country is one of the biggest achievements of the NPP government in the mining sector.

Since assuming office in 2017, the government has built about 20 regional offices for the Minerals Commission.

Speaking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Monday (16 September), Ayisi said decentralising the operations of the Commission is in line with enhancing regulation of the mining sector.

”So when it comes to decentralisation, by far, since the Minerals Commission was created in 1986… I think by far we’ve done very well.”

”So that is equipping the Commission by way of infrastructure… and we have to praise the government for these efforts,” he said.

”When we hear people saying that oh we haven’t decentralised our operations, it means that they don’t know what is happening on the ground. So by far, this is one of the biggest achievements and if there’s anything the credit goes to the sector minister,” Ayisi added.
