Residents of Agric Nwamase in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region are up in arms against local authorities over the deplorable nature of their roads.
They are particularly angry about the lack of attention on that stretch which has seen no major facelift for the past two decades. The residents early this morning marched through the streets, blocking major routes to the community.
They say they have lost interest in participating in any voting exercise for leaders who they say have failed to address their needs. An opinion leader Kofi Agyapong addressed the media shortly after the protest.
“We have been fighting for over two decades to get this road fixed. Successive governments have yet to respond to our call except the John Agyekum Kufuor regime who made some efforts…We are also taxpayers and deserve a share of the national cake. There has been massive facelift in most adjoining communities in terms of road infrastructure, but it appears Nwamase has been forgotten”, Agyapong lamented.
“This is just the beginning. We will launch a series of actions to ensure that our roads are fixed. We are pleading with the government to come for immediate intervention as we will advise ourselves as the election nears”, he stated.
