Outgoing Minister of Energy Minister Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh on Wednesday (17 July)) swore in the newly appointed board chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
He took the oath of office and the oath of secrecy as administered by the outgoing Energy Minister.
Afenyo-Markin replaces Herbert Krapa, who has been appointed the Minister of State-designate at the Energy Ministry.
The MP for Tolon and Deputy Majority Chief Whip as also sworn in as a new board member of ECG.
Sharing the news on Facebook on Wednesday(17 July). Opoku Prempeh charged the new board chairman to bring his expertise to bear in steering the affairs of ECG.
“I swore into office today, newly appointed Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, MP for Effutu and Majority Leader, together with newly appointed Board Member, Hon. Habib Iddrissu, MP for Tolon and Deputy Majority Chief Whip.
“As I bow out of the Ministry of Energy, I charged the new Board Chairman to work assiduously to make the ECG a company worth its salt in the economic growth of our country.”
“I am confident that Hon. Afenyo-Markin, supported by the Board, will bring his leadership experiences to bear in steering the affairs of the company,” Opoku Prempeh said.
