A powerful God should have killed Satan a long time ago—Opanyin Asamoah

Ghanaian atheist and critical thinker, Opanyin Asamoah Yaw has stirred up controversy during an appearance on Smart Ghana TV, where he voiced his strong opinions about religion, the existence of God, and the role of faith in society.

Asamoah didn’t hold back in challenging long-held religious beliefs.

“I simply don’t understand why people continue to worship a God who allows all this chaos in the world,” Asamoah began, his tone both direct and reflective.

“Look around—poverty, disease, wars—and people still claim God is good. It just doesn’t make sense to me.”

Opnayin Asamoah further questioned the very foundation of the Christian faith by bringing up one of the most contentious figures in religious teachings: Satan.

“Why would an all-knowing and powerful God create Satan, a being who has caused so much suffering?” he asked.

“If God is truly wise and all-powerful, why didn’t He get rid of Satan the moment he became a problem? Why allow so much pain?”

The interview continued with Asamoah delving deeper into his criticism of the Bible. He argued that it has been misused, with unscrupulous individuals exploiting religious texts for personal gain.

“People have made fortunes by manipulating the Bible and its teachings,” he said, shaking his head in disbelief. “Yet, God doesn’t step in and correct these fraudsters. That’s not the behaviour of a just and fair deity.”

As the conversation became increasingly intense, Asamoah made a bold and unsettling remark that captured the attention of viewers.

“If I had a gun, I would go after God myself to end this nonsense,” he stated, leaving the room in stunned silence. Although it was a rhetorical statement, the gravity of his words highlighted his deep frustration with what he perceives as the contradictions within religious doctrines.
