2024 HR Focus Conference to revolutionise people management

The 2024 HR Focus Conference will commence on Thursday (10 October) at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC)

This annual event, which brings together corporate decision-makers and human resources professionals, will explore innovative strategies for managing a globally diverse workforce under the theme “Reinventing HR Management for a Globally Thriving Workforce.”

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show (ABS) on Wednesday (9 October), Ewurakua Amoatey, a business development officer at HR Focus, highlighted the significance of this year’s theme.

“The traditional way of managing people has changed and we are now in a VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity) and BANI (Brittle, Anxious, Non-linear and Incomprehensible) world. So we put together this theme just so the HR fraternity can discuss ways of being adaptable and adopting new strategies in people management.”

Delis Williams Tackie-Yarboi, senior marketing officer for HR Focus, also emphasised the evolving expectations of employees.

She explained that one key topic, “Strategies for Charting New Paths in People Management,” will address the shift in employee needs.

“The Ghanaian workforce or the average Ghanaian who works in your establishment, is no longer thinking the way they thought five years ago. The world of work is fast evolving. We’ve had new entrants into the world of work with our Gen Z crop of people and they’ve brought new ideas into the workspace.”

“The way we did HR previously will not work now because we’ve had new people joining the workspace and after COVID, I think people became more aware of their rights.”

She added, “People want more from their HR; they no longer want the Christmas baskets that you give them every year; people want different things.”

“So if you are still using those strategies, you might miss the mark when it comes to meeting the employees but if you are able to adapt properly, you will be able to win the hearts of the people you work with.”

The HR Focus Conference promises to offer valuable insights into navigating these challenges, helping businesses rethink their HR strategies in a rapidly changing world.
