11 presidential aspirants disqualified; 13 cleared to contest

The Electoral Commission of Ghana( EC) has cleared 13 presidential candidates to contest in the 2024 presidential election. Another 11 candidates who had submitted their nomination forms have been disqualified by the commission after the EC after the nomination process.

Reasons for their qualifications are yet to be made public.

Those who made it are: Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP); former President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC); Kofi Akpaloo of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Hassan Abdulai Ayariga of the All People’s Congress (APC), Mohammed Frimpong of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Akua Donkor of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong-Kumankumah of the Convention People’s Party (CPP),

The rest are: Daniel Augustus Lartey of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Rev. Christian Kwabena Andrews of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen (Independent), Nana Kwame Bediako(Independent); George Twum Barimah-Adu( Independent) and Kofi Koranteng( Independent)

Those disqualified include: Desmond Abrefah; Nana Stephens Adjepong; Paul Perkoh; James Kwesi Oppong; John Enyonam Kwakwu Kpikpi; Dr Samuel Sampong Ankrah,Nii Amu Darko, Janet Asana Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP), Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Congress(PNC), Kofi Asamoah Siaw of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP),and
Samuel Apea-Danquah.

Balloting for positions on the ballot paper is expected to be held today.
