Kwame Dei Asamoah-Okyere Appointed as CEO of National Biosafety Authority

His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has, in accordance with the advice of the Governing Board of the National Biosafety Authority (NBA) named Kwame Dei Asamoah-Okyere as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The appointment, announced by the Governing Board of the Authority, marks the beginning of a new era for the NBA, as Mr. Asamoah-Okyere takes over the leadership of the institution tasked with regulating biotechnology in Ghana.

Mr. Asamoah-Okyere is widely recognized for his expertise in biosafety and biotechnology, having contributed to various national and international projects in the field. His appointment comes at a critical time when the Authority is focused on strengthening its regulatory frameworks to ensure the safe and responsible application of modern biotechnology, including genetically modified organisms (GMOs), in Ghana.

The National Biosafety Authority plays a pivotal role in overseeing and regulating biotechnology in agriculture, ensuring that innovations in the sector adhere to safety standards that protect human health, the environment, and biodiversity.
