Bawumia settled on Napo way before presidential primaries, says Miracles Aboagye

The spokesman for the Bawumia campaign team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has declared that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia settled on Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo) as his running mate long before the presidential primaries took place on 4 November 2024.

In a one-on-one interview on Adom TV on Tuesday (2 July 2024), Miracles emphasised that the choice of Dr Opoku-Prempeh was a foregone conclusion for the NPP presidential candidate.

“Dr Bawumia settled on Dr Napo as his choice even before the presidential primaries,” he said.

“He took this decision long ago. He has always known that Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh is his running mate.

“Dr Bawumia had long scanned the scene and settled on Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate,” Miracles stressed.

”Confidence and courage”

Describing it as the perfect pairing for the New Patriotic Party going into the December elections, Miracles said Napo brings a great deal to the ticket, and this will be the enzyme the NPP needs to win in 2024.

“Everybody knows that Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh is results-oriented,” Miracles said. “He delivers on tasks assigned to him. He is a goal-getter, as he goes the extra mile to achieve success with tasks entrusted with him.

He further explained that people have misconstrued Dr Opoku-Prempeh’s attribute of discipline as arrogance.

“Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh’s confidence level, courage and discipline are misinterpreted as arrogance, but that is far from the truth,” he said.

This, Miracles Aboagye emphasised, explains why, as far as performance is concerned, Dr Opoku Prempeh was always going to be either number one or number two in terms of the people appointed to lead the Ministry of Education.

“In the Education Ministry, everybody would tell you Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh is an exemplary leader, and this fact can be attested to by GNAT [the Ghana National Association of Teachers], NAGRAT [the National Association of Graduate Teachers] and all the other teacher unions that worked with him,” he said.

“Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh was charged with the implementation of one of the most impactful social intervention programmes – Free SHS – and he made sure that he rolled the programme out with the single objective of making sure that every Ghanaian child who completes basic school should have access to senior secondary school education.

“That task was discharged honourably by Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh,” Miracles further said.

Miracles argued that Dr Opoku Prempeh has the gravitas and all the other attributes required to partner Dr Bawumia as the NPP embarks on its campaign to break the eight.
