The spokesperson for the John Dramani Mahama administration, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, has condemned the violence taking place at Walewale over the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries.

The rerun of the Walewale NPP parliamentary primaries has been violent after ballot boxes were snatched and warning shots fired at the polling centre where the election is taking place.

The Electoral Commission has had to annul the elections because some of the ballot papers were destroyed.

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has to decide on who becomes the parliamentary candidate, as they have just a few days to file their nomination before the nomination closes.

Reacting to the violence being displayed, Joyce Bawa Mogtari indicated that “Walewale primaries apparently nullified due to ballot snatching and violence. This is the end result of unbridled corruption and greed. This is the end result of impunity arrogance of power.This impunity must of necessity come to an end. What is happening in Walewale is a true reflection of the state of the NPP and the mis- governance of Akufo Addo and #Bawuliar. #GhanaDeservesBetter #bono #MahamaForPresident“.
