We want Justice – Hanna Louisa Bisiw tells National Peace council

Former Member of Parliament(MP) for Tano South Constituency and National Women Organiser, NDC, Dr Hanna Louisa Bissiw-Kotei has described the National Peace Council as a figure representation.

She stated that the National Peace Council showed less interest in the killing of the 8 people during the 2020 elections but wants to convince political parties to sign a peace pact ahead of the 2024 polls

“You can’t be giving me ingredients for violence and you expect peace from us. In fact, we don’t want peace, we want justice”. She lashed out at the institution

Hanna Bissiw slammed Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei Wusu for saying that those who were killed are criminals and should not be given the attention, expressing worry that one of the people who was killed was a 14-year-old.

“Joe Wise you are also a criminal in suit. You are a criminal because you are advocating for the killings of innocent Ghanaians”. She asked.

The National Peace Council had earlier called on political parties to sign a peace pact for the upcoming 2024 elections as was done in the run-up to the 2020 polls. However, the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah stated that the signing of the peace pact suggested by the Peace Council was useless.

According to Asiedu Nketiah, the peace pact signed in 2020 did not lead to peace during the elections with pockets of violence which led to the loss of lives.

Meanwhile, the National Peace Council has said it remains confident that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will sign the peace pact ahead of the December polls, despite the party’s reservations.
