National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament (MPs) constituting the Minority Caucus in Parliament could not hide their joy when their leader, the Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, entered the chamber of Parliament upon being acquitted and discharged by the Court of Appeal in the famous Ambulance Trial.

On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, the Court of Appeal acquitted and discharged  Dr Cassiel Ato Forson of charges of causing financial loss in a majority 2-1 verdict much to the excitement of the MPs.

Dr Ato Forson was welcomed by upstanding MPs singing and waving white handkerchiefs in celebration of his victory at the Court.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame has described the verdict as erroneous and grossly unfair pledging to appeal it at the Supreme Court.

“The Office of the Attorney-General considers the decision of the Court of Appeal grossly unfair to the nation and inimical to the fight against impunity and abuse in public office. The Office will promptly file an appeal in order to erase the effect of this erroneous decision of the Court of Appeal”, he served notice in a statement issued on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
