Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has claimed that he was the main target of the disruptions that disrupted the ministerial vetting process in Parliament on January 30.
Testifying before the special committee investigating the incident on Friday, February 7, 2025, Ablakwa stated that the chaos was a deliberate attempt to obstruct his vetting.
“It appears to me that I was the target. The sequence of events was not random; it was a deliberate scheme to obstruct my vetting… because they were happy to vet others,” he told the committee.
“What I saw was an attempt to disrupt the proceedings, and they proceeded to disrupt it,” he added.
The disturbances, which led to heated confrontations among MPs, prompted Speaker Alban Bagbin to suspend four lawmakers and initiate a formal inquiry into the matter.
