The acting chief executive of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Maleek Basintale, holds the view that unemployment in Ghana is becoming a national security threat.
He believes that it is a threat that needs to be addressed with the urgency it demands before it degenerates into something else.
The CEO made this known while addressing the media on his first day in office.
“It is my interest that at the end of four years, we should be able to reduce unemployment drastically. Unemployment is gradually becoming a national security threat in this country, and if we don’t take steps to mitigate the situation in the long run we will all be affected,” he said.
To him, he is ready to set the ball rolling to make the president proud for appointing him to the position.
“My aim is to set the ball rolling. From today to my last day, I should be able to make John Mahama proud that he will say I appointed Maleek Basintale and I’m proud of the record and that will add on to the achievement of his government,” he stated.
