Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa whois strongly opposed to the sale of four hotels belonging to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to Rock City, a company wholly owned by his colleague MP and Minister of Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, has suggested some sort of force must be used to the sale of the hotels to Bryan Acheampong’s Rock City since the President has refused to stop the sale and Board Chairperson of SSNIT has justified the deal.
In a social media post, Mr Ablakwa stated that it was time for Ghana to declare its own version of violent protests in Kenya that forced the Kenyan Government to withdraw a bill to impose punitive taxes on Kenyans.
Sustained protests of mostly young Kenyans on the streets which culminated in the invasion and ransacking of the county’s Parliament while it was in session forced the Kenyan leaders to withdraw the tax bill.
In the opinion of Mr Ablakwa, President Akufo-Addo is behind what he describes as putrefying state capture, adding that he( Mr Ablakwa) will give a big announcement soon.
“President Akufo-Addo refused to stop the sale of our SSNIT hotels when he met organized labour yesterday.
Akufo-Addo’s appointed SSNIT board chair, Elizabeth Ohene is also boldly justifying the stinky deal despite overwhelming opposition from Ghanaians and the protest of labour reps on her board.
It’s now confirmed beyond any scintilla of doubt — President Akufo-Addo is the chief-architect of all the putrefying State Capture.
It’s time to declare our own version of what just happened in Kenya.
Watch out for the big announcement soon,” he wrote.
Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa has earlier led a demonstration against the planned sale and submitted a petition to the Presidency. It is unclear what he will do next.
